The bent-wood table lamp is made from straight-grained red oak with strips of walnut inlay. The body of the lamp consists of two pieces, each bent on a hot iron pipe, and then glued together, after a channel for the wire was routed on the inside of one of the pieces. The pieces for the inlaid walnut strip were also bent on a hot iron pipe. The front legs were hot-pipe-bent into a spiral so they fit flat against the body of the lamp at one end and flat on the table at the other end. The lamp is finished with shellac and wax.
Although the lamp is very light-weight, it is surprisingly strong and stable, because the bending of the straight-grained wood results in the wood fibers being everywhere parallel to the piece, and because the weight of the bulb and socket is directly over the juncture of the three legs.
The lamp shade is rice paper formed on a soldered framework of copper wire, which is soldered at the top and bottom of the shade onto circular brass bands. The lamp uses an LED bulb, which produces much less heat than incandescent bulbs that produce the same lumens.
The lamp is 25.5" (67 cm) tall, and the feet rest within a 13" (33 cm) square.
