The CFF Jewelry Box is made from the wood of an ornamental plum tree. The monogram, CFF, is a single piece of maple, inlaid in the top, and shaded with a wood burning tool to give the letters their three-dimensional intertwining effect. The lid and the tray are each carved from single blocks of wood, the lid being hollowed out underneath to give added height for articles in the tray. Posts, triangular in cross section, are fitted into the four corners of the box to support the tray. The top-front edge on the outside of the box is relieved in the middle to provide a purchase for lifting the lid. The box is finished inside and out with shellac, and the outside is waxed and buffed to a translucent sheen. The tray is shown containing decorative grains of quartz. Approximate dimensions: length: 6" (15 cm), width: 3.5" (9 cm), height: 3" (7.5 cm).
